'Historian among futurists'

George Dyson is a historian and a philosopher of science. He studies the origin of technological developments and outlines an image of the future on that basis. George is the son of physicist and Nobel Prize winner Freeman Dyson.

In 1997 he published Darwin Among the Machines in which he described the Internet as a growing organism. In his book Project Orion, published in 2002, he recounts how he grew up among scientists who worked on a nuclear powered rocket which was supposed to fly to Saturn. In his upcoming book, Turing's Cathedral, based on ten years research, Dyson describes the history of the Maniac computer and the dreams of the scientists involved.

Dyson lives in Bellingham, a coastal town in the Far Northwest of the United States.
